Highbury Fields, London
An existing four storey terraced house in Highbury Fields, Islington within a conservation area which required exterior alterations to be sympathetic to the existing properties along the street.
To comply with planning, the new kitchen extension was set down half a metre to provide additional head height to the dining area. The flooring to the kitchen was finished in polished concrete which continued through into the new landscaped garden.
Existing structural walls were removed on the ground floor to provide an open plan layout with three reception rooms linked into one. The rear of the house then opened out into the garden by way of large folding doors. Plaster cornices and feature ceiling elements were retained and incorporated into the final design.
A wine cellar and storage area was excavated at basement level and a new library and office was provided overlooking the garden.
